UniCredit nears 47.6% stake in Commerzbank — mBank takeover edge closer

UniCredit has taken another step towards acquiring Germany's Commerzbank, owner of Poland's mBank, and could control up to 47.6% of the German lender's capital after completing its share buyback. CEO Andrea Orcel says full control could be achieved as early as the fourth quarter of 2025. Regulatory approvals are still required to complete the deal.
