He built his own GPS-synced clock to never manually set the time again

Fed up with manually resetting cheap LED alarm clocks after every power flicker or daylight saving time change, the author set out to build a self-setting clock with automatic DST adjustment and sub-second accuracy. The device displays time on a red seven-segment LED display — matching the retro aesthetic of his childhood clocks — and never needs manual intervention. The DIY project turned out to be far more ambitious than originally planned.
