EU fines Google €890 million for breaching Digital Markets Act rules

The European Union has fined Google €890 million and ordered the company to overhaul how it ranks rivals in search results and polices its app store, following two investigations under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The European Commission's competition chief Teresa Ribera said Google "fell short of effective compliance." Google is the third company to face significant DMA fines; Washington has criticised the law as discriminatory against American firms.
