Heart failure can be prevented before it starts, international experts say
Heart failure affects more than 60 million people worldwide and is one of the leading causes of hospitalisation among the elderly. An international team of experts, including two Polish cardiologists, stresses that the disease can be effectively prevented before any symptoms appear. Key steps include controlling blood pressure, diabetes and obesity, quitting smoking and maintaining regular physical activity.
