Polish banks warn CIT could hit 45% if government tax plan goes ahead

The Polish Bank Association (ZBP) warns that if the roughly 12 billion złoty cost of raising the second income tax threshold were passed on to the banking sector, corporate tax (CIT) for banks would have to rise to 45.4% in 2026, 44.5% in 2027 and 42.1% in 2028. Under that scenario, banks would pay 32.7 billion złoty in CIT in 2026 alone. The warning comes in response to a new government tax proposal.
