Lilly's Retatrutide Cuts Weight but Fails to Prove Heart Benefit in New Trial
Eli Lilly released Phase 3 results for retatrutide in nearly 2,000 patients with severe obesity and heart disease. Those on the highest dose lost 22.6% of their body weight after 80 weeks, compared to 3.2% in the placebo group. However, retatrutide did not show a statistically significant reduction in major cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke, partly because the trial was not powered to detect such a difference.
