EU Fines Google €890 Million for Breaching Digital Markets Act

The European Commission fined Google a total of €890 million (over $1 billion) for two violations of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The Commission found that Google gives preferential placement to its own services — such as Google Flights and Google Hotels — in search results at the expense of rivals. Google was also penalised for blocking app developers from freely presenting their offers to consumers outside the Google Play store.
