Google fined €890 million by EU for two Digital Markets Act violations
The European Union has fined Alphabet, Google's parent company, €890 million (approximately $1 billion) for two separate violations of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). One €460 million penalty covers preferential treatment of Google's own products in search results; the other addresses blocking Android developers from directing users to alternative payment options. It is one of the first major enforcement actions under the DMA.
