Mitsubishi Triton gets a rugged BF///MS special edition in Brazil.

Features bi-tone brown paint, 20-inch wheels, and accessories.

The interior gets leather upholstery and premium equipment.

Mitsubishi has another Brazil-only Triton special edition, this one done with a local lifestyle brand and the off-road crowd that runs with it. While the Triton Terra that was introduced earlier this year went after agribusiness buyers with chrome and a clean shave, the BF///MS skips all of that and goes dark and scruffy instead. As for the name, it sounds like something stamped on an amplifier, but it stands for Big Foot and Mato Grosso do Sul, the state the partnership came out of.

Visually, the truck is distinguished by the main Baroque Brown shade which is combined with Onyx Pearl Black for the lower portion of the bodywork. The grille and mirror caps stay black, while the Dynamic Shield front end and the fender extensions are painted to match the body.

The 20-inch wheels have a dark diamond-cut finish and sit on grippy Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac rough-terrain tires. Outside, there are also power-retractable side steps, a soft tonneau cover, a bed storage box, a 12-volt outlet in the bed, and a tow hitch. BF///MS badges go on the doors and the tailgate.

Inside, it’s brown and black leather with orange stitching. The BF///MS logo turns up again on the dashboard, joined by a horse emblem embroidered into the seats and projected by the puddle lights.

Equipment is quite generous as the special edition is based on the flagship Triton Katana trim. The standard kit includes a 9-inch infotainment, navigation, a 360-degree camera, a premium JBL sound system, dual-zone climate control, rubber floor mats, seven airbags and an ADAS suite.

There are no changes under the skin, with the twin-turbo 2.4-liter diesel producing the same 202 hp (151 kW / 205 PS) and 470 Nm (347 lb-ft) of torque. Power is delivered to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission and Mitsubishi’s flagship Super Select II 4WD system featuring a locking rear differential and seven terrain-specific drive modes.

The Mitsubishi Triton BF///MS is offered on a built-to-order basis in Brazil without a fixed production cap. The special edition is priced at R$ 359,990 ($71,200) but it is currently offered at a discounted R$ 339,990 ($67,200) as part of a promotion. This makes it less expensive than the limited-production Triton Terra which was priced at R$ 364,990 ($71,200).
