Polish tax office demands income tax on charity fundraising — rates up to 32%

Poland's tax authority has ruled that anonymous donations to online charity fundraisers do not qualify as gifts under tax law. As a result, organisers — including mothers raising money for their sick children's treatment — must declare the funds as income and pay personal income tax of 12% or up to 32%. The case highlights a legal gap that leaves private fundraisers exposed to steep tax bills.
