China fires water cannon at Filipino fishing boat in South China Sea

The Philippine Coast Guard accused a Chinese vessel of firing a water cannon at a Filipino fishing boat in the South China Sea. Beijing countered that two Philippine vessels had intruded into disputed waters. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had previously warned Manila of "bitter consequences". China also launched live-fire military drills off the coast of Taiwan.
