Son of wartime partisan "Ogień" Kuraś denied 10 million PLN — court cites father's crimes

The District Court in Nowy Sącz dismissed a claim by the son of wartime partisan Józef Kuraś, known as "Ogień," for 10 million PLN in compensation for suffering inflicted by communist security services after his father's death. The court acknowledged that "Ogień" fought for Polish independence but also bore responsibility for crimes against civilians near Krościenko, which constituted a "blemish" precluding compensation. The case concerned reprisals endured by the son following the partisan's death in 1947.
