Audio IoT sensors and neural networks monitor honey bee colony health

Researchers have developed a honey bee colony monitoring system using audio IoT sensors, tensorgram analysis and recurrent neural networks (RNNs). Sounds from inside the hive are recorded and processed by algorithms that detect anomalies signalling colony health problems. The method could help beekeepers identify threats — such as queen loss or disease — without physically inspecting the hive.
