Israel builds earthen barrier across Gaza, fuelling fears of permanent partition

Israel is constructing an earthen barrier inside the Gaza Strip, physically dividing the enclave. The construction has fuelled Palestinian fears that Israel does not intend to relinquish control over most of Gaza's territory. Palestinian groups warn the barrier could permanently prevent displaced residents from returning to their homes.
