Polish experts are warning that pseudomedicine is gaining political backing and massive social media reach, with the state losing the battle against medical disinformation. Some doctors prescribe antibiotics for "chronic Lyme disease" — a condition bioethicists say does not exist as a recognised diagnosis. Parliament has just passed the "lex charlatan" law aimed at cracking down on miracle-cure sellers and doctors offering unscientific treatments.
