Bethesda Union Files Complaint After Canadian Devs Were Laid Off the Day Fallout Remasters Were Announced

The Bethesda Game Studios Union has filed a legal complaint alleging the company violated Canadian labour law by terminating Canadian employees on July 17 — the same day Xbox announced Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters, an Obsidian-developed Fallout game and early development of Fallout 5. Workers had reportedly been told they would keep their jobs until September. The union argues the wave of game announcements was timed to distract from Microsoft's broader layoff of 3,200 staff and closure of four studios.
