UNESCO adds ancient Lebanese city of Tyre to endangered heritage list
UNESCO on Wednesday added Tyre, an ancient Phoenician coastal city in southern Lebanon founded around 4,700 years ago, to its list of World Heritage Sites in Danger. The decision follows months of Israeli bombardment of the area. Tyre contains two UNESCO-protected zones with significant archaeological treasures.
