Japan introduces official "brutally hot day" category for temperatures above 40°C
Japan has officially introduced the term "brutally hot day" to describe temperatures exceeding 40°C. Heat stroke warnings are in effect across 41 of the country's 47 prefectures. On Tuesday alone, nearly 300 people were taken to hospitals in Tokyo due to the extreme heat.
