Study: hand dominance is developed through practice, not determined at birth

A new study suggests that people are not born right- or left-handed — hand dominance develops through years of practising complex motor tasks such as writing. While humans may have a biological predisposition toward one side of the body, it is practice that consolidates dominance. The finding could reshape how we think about learning to write and rehabilitation after injury.
