NASA's Chandra reveals Messier 94 galaxy in X-ray light
NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory released a new image of spiral galaxy NGC 4736, also known as Messier 94, on June 30, 2026. The image combines X-ray data from Chandra in three wavelengths with a visible-light photograph taken by ground-based astrophotographers. The galaxy features a bright starburst ring where new stars are forming, likely fuelled by gas channelled through its distinctive oval-shaped core structure.
