NYC mayor backtracks on Netanyahu arrest pledge, citing lack of authority

New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani has walked back his pledge to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying he lacks the legal authority to do so. He instead called on US federal authorities to act on the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant against Netanyahu. The ICC warrant relates to Netanyahu's conduct during the conflict in Gaza.
