Astronomers May Have Spotted the First Moon Outside Our Solar System – or Something Even Stranger

Astronomers studying the star system CD-35 2722 with the Very Large Telescope (VLT) have discovered an object that could be the first confirmed exomoon — a moon orbiting a planet outside our solar system. The finding is controversial, however, as the object's nature might also require scientists to rethink what a "moon" actually is. Despite certainty that exomoons must exist, none has been confirmed among the more than 6,000 known exoplanets catalogued by NASA.
