SoundCloud has acquired Nina Protocol, a New York-based independent music platform founded in 2021 as a DIY-friendly alternative to major streaming services. Nina Protocol had announced plans to shut down in May, with operations due to cease by 15 July. The acquisition by SoundCloud reverses the platform's planned closure, though financial terms were not disclosed.
