Criterion Collection adds curator and expands focus on Black cinema

Six years after a reckoning over racial inclusion, the Criterion Collection has hired a new curator and expanded its slate to foreground Black cinema under the banner "Cinematic Blackness." The move broadens the company's long-standing vision of art-house film. However, auteur filmmakers continue to push Criterion on what genuine inclusion really means in practice.
