Tertiary lymphoid structures harbour stem-like anti-tumour T cells in kidney cancer

Research on renal cell carcinoma published in Nature on 22 July 2026 found that tumours containing tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) are enriched for exhausted CD8+ T cells, including tumour-specific clones with stem-like progenitor features and reduced terminal exhaustion. The findings may have implications for improving immunotherapy strategies in kidney cancer.
