Australia tests nationwide AusAlert emergency siren on all phones on 27 July

At 2pm AEST on Monday 27 July, virtually every mobile phone, smartwatch and tablet in Australia will emit an emergency siren as part of the first national test of the AusAlert warning system. The alert cannot be silenced even if a device is on "do not disturb" or silent mode. Domestic violence advocates have issued guidance on how to disable alerts on phones used covertly for safety.
