Identical Quadruplets Born in Brisbane Share One Placenta in Rare 1-in-15-Million Birth

Four identical girls — monozygotic quadruplets sharing a single placenta — were born by caesarean section at 28 weeks in Brisbane, Australia, in a case estimated to occur roughly once in 15 million pregnancies. Doctors described the event as almost unheard of. It is the second such case in recent months: identical male quadruplets were born in the Netherlands in May.
