Leroy's Place in New Orleans: a whimsical monster-art gallery in the French Quarter

Stepping into Leroy's Place is like stepping through a portal into a whimsical monster world, right in the middle of the Historic French Quarter. A 10 foot tall, hot pink, puppet cat (named Casual Carl) greets you as you walk inside under huge fabric trees. And the surprises don't stop there!

The colorful collection of art is pun-filled, nostalgic, and monster-forward. Highlights include a needle felted ghost holding a "Ghost" VHS tape (Rachel Eaton), a colorful sculpture of a "Blub" with an eyeball and a butt (Quinn Curtin), and a gorgeous knit artwork of a pineapple with muscles ( "Pineapple Hunk" by Kate Jenkins) .

The forced perspective installation, "Ghost TOURtellini" by Jacques Duffourc is an masterful transformation of cardboard, and is worth a visit in itself. And did we mention the trees can talk ?!

The rotating collection of handmade art and gifts range in price from funky souvenirs to art for your walls, so there is truly something for everyone in this delightfully quirky store. It feels like a toy store for grown-ups !
