Israel withdraws from Lebanese pilot regions; Germany proposes EU-led UNIFIL

Israel has begun withdrawing its forces from areas of Lebanon designated as "pilot regions." Germany has proposed an EU-led UNIFIL mission as an alternative or supplement to the existing UN peacekeeping force in the area.
