Zelensky consolidates power in sweeping Ukrainian government overhaul

The dismissal of Deputy Prime Minister Swyridenko, the departure of army commander Syrsky, the appointment of Drapatyi and changes at the Defence Ministry are seen by analysts as parts of a single large political operation. President Volodymyr Zelensky is restructuring the Ukrainian state to concentrate all power in the hands of the presidency and his inner circle. Further reshuffles in the SBU, parliament and regional administration are also expected.
