Fuel prices rise in Poland after subsidy programme expires

Eurostat data shows EU fuel prices in June were higher year-on-year but lower than in May. In Poland, prices worsened in July after the "Ceny Paliwa Niżej" subsidy programme expired. PM Donald Tusk has played down hopes of reinstating the subsidies, while Monetary Policy Council member Ludwik Kotecki warned that such a move should be a last resort.
