Mini lab-grown brains could predict which Alzheimer's treatments work
Researchers grew miniature brain models (organoids) from Alzheimer's patients' own cells and found striking differences in how the tissue responds to an antidepressant drug. The organoids and the particles they release could eventually help guide personalised treatments and provide new diagnostic clues for the disease. The study opens a new avenue in the search for effective therapies for millions of Alzheimer's sufferers worldwide.
