Zelensky Fires Syrskyi, Appoints Gen. Drapatyi as Ukraine's New Top Commander
President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi as commander-in-chief of Ukraine's armed forces and appointed Gen. Mykhailo Drapatyi as his successor. Syrskyi had faced mounting criticism, which intensified after a government reshuffle that also saw Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov removed from his post. The change represents one of the most significant shake-ups in Ukraine's military leadership since Russia's full-scale invasion began.
