French troops head to Poland as NATO's Eastern Shield takes shape

Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on Wednesday that reconnaissance is underway ahead of the deployment of French troops to Poland under the Eastern Shield programme. He stressed that the initiative is becoming a wider NATO project, not just a bilateral Polish-French arrangement. France is a key partner in reinforcing the Alliance's eastern flank.
