Six beluga whales leave Canada's Marineland for US aquariums
Six beluga whales have left Marineland, the controversial Canadian marine park in Niagara Falls that previously threatened to euthanise its animals, and have been flown to US aquariums. The move ends a long-running saga over the welfare of the captive cetaceans. Animal advocates warn that while the new facilities are superior to Marineland, the belugas may still face significant challenges in their new environment.
