Malta Refuses to Accept Lower-Ranked Polish Diplomatic Representative

The dispute over ambassadorial appointments between Poland's foreign ministry and the president shows no sign of quick resolution. Malta has refused to accept a lower-ranked chargé d'affaires in place of a full ambassador. According to PAP sources at the foreign ministry, the deadlock risks a de facto downgrade in diplomatic relations with several countries, particularly in Asia.
