Art historian: the Louvre needs refurbishment, not Macron's costly expansion

Art historian and investigative journalist Didier Rykner argues that the Louvre's main problem is not a lack of money but its misallocation, with funds diverted to what he calls an unnecessary, politically driven architectural expansion championed by President Macron instead of urgently needed building refurbishment. Rykner contends that world-class museums should prioritise preserving their collections, buildings and visitor experience over prestige projects. He describes Macron's expansion plan as "useless and expensive."
