Ozzy Osbourne's genome reveals genetic predisposition to surviving substance abuse
In 2007 genetics firm Knome sequenced Ozzy Osbourne's entire genome, publishing the results three years later. The study found that the Black Sabbath frontman carries genetic variants that predispose him to metabolising alcohol and other substances unusually well. Sharon Osbourne quipped: "After the apocalypse, only cockroaches, Ozzy and Keith Richards will survive." The findings offered a scientific explanation for how Osbourne survived decades of extreme drug and alcohol use.
