US utilities pledge AI energy boom won't raise consumer electricity bills

Nearly 200 organisations, including the largest US utility companies and data centre developers, have signed President Donald Trump's "rate payer protection pledge", committing to shield consumers from electricity bill increases driven by the AI boom. The pledge is a response to growing concerns that surging demand from AI data centres will strain the grid and push up household energy costs. The Wall Street Journal first reported the breadth of the agreement.
