Poles leave 159 PLN a year unclaimed in reverse vending machines

Since Poland's deposit return scheme launched, hundreds of millions of zlotys have gone unclaimed because consumers fail to collect their money from reverse vending machines. On average, each person leaves 159 PLN a year unredeemed. The unclaimed funds feed back into the deposit system, but experts and consumers point to barriers that make collecting the money difficult.
