German Politicians Held Secret Talks With Putin's Envoys in Baku
German politicians held secret talks in Baku with envoys of Vladimir Putin, a move described by media as a particularly problematic way of maintaining ties with Russia. Chancellor Friedrich Merz distanced his government from the meeting, saying he had no prior knowledge of it. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also stated the meeting took place without his knowledge.
