Australia Tests AusAlert: Phones to Blast 10-Second Siren Nationwide on Monday

On Monday at 2pm AEST, an unsilenceable 10-second siren will sound on most phones across Australia as part of a national test of the new AusAlert emergency warning system. The federal government confirmed the test will proceed despite reservations from some state governments. Domestic violence campaigners and the National Emergency Management Agency advised people with secret "safe phones" to turn off their devices for up to 24 hours around the test. The system is compatible with iPhone 11 and later running iOS 26.4 or above, and select Apple Watch models.
