Senate to Appoint Ombudsman but Delay IPN Chief Vote

The Polish Senate is set on Wednesday to approve Monika Gregorczyk-Abram as the new Ombudsman (RPO), but will postpone a vote on Paweł Szpytma as head of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), despite the Sejm choosing both candidates last Friday. Coalition senators want to avoid letting the contentious Szpytma appointment overshadow the broadly agreed RPO selection.
