Germany launches start-up strategy with defence investment and easier top-earner layoffs

German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche (CDU) unveiled a new start-up strategy aimed at mobilising private venture capital and channelling direct state investment into defence technology start-ups. The plan also includes easier dismissal rules for top earners. SPD digital politician Daniel Bettermann praised the focus on capital-intensive scale-ups and defence tech sovereignty, but admitted the coalition's planned 24-hour company registration remains unrealistic due to bureaucratic obstacles.
