Poland ditches coal faster than planned — mining regions face unemployment surge
A report by the Instrat Foundation shows Poland is phasing out coal faster than current government plans assume. The hardest-hit areas will be so-called "mining and rural doughnut" districts — counties heavily dependent on mining — where pit closures risk rising unemployment and weakening local economies.
