Classic, vintage or antique — what actually separates old cars?
The terms "classic," "vintage" and "antique" are frequently used interchangeably when referring to old cars, but they carry distinct meanings. In the US, "antique" typically means a car over 45 years old, "vintage" generally covers vehicles from 1919 to 1930, and "classic" usually applies to cars at least 20–25 years old, depending on the organisation or state. These definitions are not standardised and vary across insurers, registries and local regulations.
