British intelligence bugged a mansion to eavesdrop on Nazi POW generals

During World War II, British intelligence converted a country mansion into a sophisticated listening post for high-ranking Nazi prisoners of war. German generals relaxed and talked freely upstairs, unaware that Jewish refugees working as spies and translators were recording them from the basement. The house is now open to visitors as a historical site.
