Zelensky Fires Syrskyi and Appoints Drapaty as Ukraine's New Military Chief
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi as commander-in-chief of the armed forces following nationwide protests demanding his removal. Gen. Mykhailo Drapaty, praised as a popular and innovative commander, was appointed the new army chief. Drapaty is tasked with reorganising the military's command structure. Zelensky also offered a return to government to defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov, whom he had sacked the previous week.
