Osaka's golden datum pin: the point from which all city distances are measured

A shiny golden datum pin in central Osaka marks the reference point from which distances to surrounding locations are measured. Installed in 1922 following Japan's 1919 Road Act, it once served as the start and end of seven national roads. The current marker dates to 1957, but its granite plate goes back to 1919.
