Zelensky fires army chief Syrsky, appoints General Drapaty as new commander
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has fired General Oleksandr Syrsky as commander-in-chief of the army and appointed Major General Mykhailo Drapaty as his successor. France 24 correspondent Gulliver Cragg described the move as "a victory for the protesters" who had taken to the streets demanding Syrsky's dismissal. Drapaty was reportedly the candidate favoured by former Defence Minister Fedorov for the top command role.
